Description:
This class builds on the concepts from the beginner class by
focusing on the operational aspects of project
management. It is intended for “entry level” project
managers. Topics covered: What is Project Life Cycle?
Hierarchical Planning, Work Breakdown Structure, Top Down
vs. Bottom Up Budgeting, Gantt Charts, Constrained
Resource Scheduling (Heuristic vs. Optimization),
Monitoring Techniques (System Development, and PM
Information Systems), Control Techniques (Cybernetic,
Go/No Go, Post Control), Introduction to Project Auditing
& Evaluation, Project Termination Process, and Conflicts
Throughout Projects.

Manga Anantatmula, PMP is President and CEO of PKC,
Inc. She has over
ten years of consulting experience with the federal
government and private industry in the areas of
project management, program management, project
portfolio management, cost-benefit analysis, earned
value management, project management office, and
mentoring project management teams. She has received
commendations from all her clients for the exceptional
quality of her work. Mrs.
Anantatmula
is a member of the Project Management Institute and is
a certified Project Management Professional. |

Dr.
Vittal S. Anantatmula holds B.E. (Electrical
Engineering), MBA, MS and D.Sc. in Engineering
Management from the George Washington University. Dr.
Anantatmula is a certified Project Management
Professional and Certified Cost Engineer. He is a
member of PMI and AACE. Dr. Anantatmula has
worked in the petroleum and power industries for
several years as an electrical engineer and project
manager. As a consultant, he worked with the World
Bank, Arthur Andersen, and other international
consulting firms. He has written a book and has more
than ten journal publications in project management
and knowledge management. Dr. Anantatmula has
presented more than 20 papers in prestigious and
international conferences. |

Dr. Nabil Bedewi
is a faculty member in the McDonough School of
Business at Georgetown University, with specialty is
information systems and project management. Prior to
his academic career, he spent fifteen
years in the defense and telecommunications
industries. His experience spanned strategic planning,
decision support systems and expert systems,
organizational development, staffing and coaching,
proposal and budget development/tracking, project
management, software development (requirements to
deployment), process re-engineering, workgroup
automation, modeling and simulation, training and
educating, and multiple hardware and software tools.
Dr. Bedewi holds a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in
Engineering Management from George Washington
University. He is also certified by the Project
Management Institute as a Project Management
Professional (PMP®),
and is a published author of research papers in the
fields of information technology and project
management. |
